New Original Digital Vortex Flow Meter DY050 DY100 DY080 DY040
New Original Digital Vortex Flow Meter DY050 DY100 DY080 DY040
Product Description
The DY050 is part of Yokogawa’s digital YEWFLO vortex flowmeter series. The "DY" stands for the digital version, and "050" refers to the 50 mm (2") pipe size. It’s widely used to measure volumetric flow rates of liquids, gases, and steam using the vortex shedding principle.
Working Principle – Vortex Shedding
The DY050 operates based on the Kármán vortex street phenomenon:
- When fluid flows past a bluff body (called a "shedder bar") inside the pipe, vortices are alternately shed from its sides.
- The frequency of vortex shedding is directly proportional to the flow velocity.
- A piezoelectric sensor or capacitive sensor detects these vortices and converts the signal into a frequency, which is then interpreted as flow rate.
