PVP (Polyvinylpyrrolidone) is a white or milky white to light yellow free-flowing powder or clear transparent viscous liquid. It is odorless or has a slight characteristic odor. PVP is non-toxic, non-irritating, and has moisture absorption properties.
Applications & Properties
PVP is easily soluble in many organic solvents including water, alcohol, amine, and halohydrocarbon, while being insoluble in acetone and diethyl ether. It offers excellent solubility, biocompatibility, film-forming properties, chemical stability, physiological inertness, cohesiveness, membrane protection ability, and complexing ability with many organic and inorganic compounds. PVP demonstrates good stability to acid, salt, and heat, making it suitable for wide applications across multiple industries.
