Aluminum alloy surface treatment can be done by electrochemical reaction. A dense oxide film is produced on the surface of aluminum alloy to enhance the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy.
This oxide layer can be sealed by hydration to the pores on the oxide layer, and this step is called sealing treatment. After the sealing treatment, the aluminum oxide has very good corrosion resistance, and the effect is even better if there are dichromate ions sealed in the holes. In addition, the oxide film can be colored in the anodic treatment to provide a variety of aluminum alloy materials, commonly used coloring method (1) dyeing method; (2) a coloring method and (3) secondary coloring method.
The difference between the anodic oxidation characteristics of aluminum alloy and pure aluminum actually reflects the great role of alloying elements and impurity elements, as well as the great influence of organizational structure and surface state.
Aluminum alloy anodic oxidation can have different purposes:
- To improve the corrosion resistance of aluminum substrate based on the protective anodic oxidation
- To the appearance of the main purpose of decorative anodic oxidation
- To the engineering application of the surface wear-resistant hard anodic oxidation for the purpose of hard anodic oxidation
- Sometimes also require anodic oxidation film coloring or to maintain the original degree of brightness of the surface
