What is Vacuum Casting?
Vacuum casting, also known as Urethane casting or Polyurethane casting, utilizes silicone moulds to produce plastic and rubber components under vacuum. This highly adaptable manufacturing process can mimic injection moulding to create complex parts in polyurethane resins and cast nylon.
The vacuum process ensures high-quality, bubble-free castings with smooth surface textures and no blemishes. It is particularly valuable for rapid prototyping of injection moulding parts and should be considered when selecting rapid prototyping processes for plastic or rubber components.
