Wire-cut discharge machining is a versatile precision machining process that can be used to manufacture complex shapes and geometrics. It is commonly used in the aerospace and medical industries where strict tolerances need to be met, and can also be used to manufacture hand plates or mass-produced parts.
Electrical discharge wire cutting (wire-walking) is an electrothermal production process that uses electrical discharge to remove material from the workpiece. It is an improvement on traditional EDM methods, is compatible with almost all conductive materials, and can be processed into complex designs and shapes.
From hand plates to complete parts production processes, many industries use wire-cut discharge machining machines:

In addition to Wire cutting EDM (Wire EDM), there are drilling EDM and sinking hole EDM. They differ in the electrodes they use. Drilling EDM uses tubular electrodes for finer, deeper holes, while sink hole EDM uses conductive metal to form a "positive electrode" of the desired shape.
Laser cutting uses a high-power thermal beam to cut material, while wire-cut EDM uses electrical processing of the workpiece with a wire.
Deionized water has low carbon properties and serves as a coolant to regulate the dielectric temperature during processing.
