Baremul-13 is a high-performance W/O (water-in-oil) emulsifier, notable for its stability and resistance to oxidation. It boasts good compatibility with the majority of oils used in cosmetics. The polymer structure of its long carbon-chain hydrophobic end reduces the impact of polar hydroxyl groups in hydroxy stearic acid, thereby allowing the hydrophobic end to fully extend from the oil-water interface into the oil phase. This ensures that the stability of the W/O system is not influenced by the polarity of the oils, which explains its widespread application in the formulation of W/O creams and lotions. It is capable of emulsifying paraffin oils and triglycerides from plant oils that, from a technical perspective, are typically difficult to emulsify.
