Types of Hand Taps:

1.Taper Tap:

• Has a gentle taper over the first 8 to 10 threads.
• Easier to start in a hole and typically used to begin the threading process.

2.Second (Plug) Tap:

• Less taper, typically with 3 to 5 threads tapered.
• Used after a taper tap to continue the threading deeper into the hole.

3.Bottoming Tap:

• Has almost no taper (1 or 2 tapered threads).
• Designed to thread the hole all the way to the bottom, often after using the other two types of taps.
