Function
Desulfurizing agent: In some instances, ferrosilicon can be utilized as a desulfurizing agent. It reacts with sulfur present in molten metal, forming a slag that can be removed, thereby reducing the sulfur content in the final product.
Deoxidizer: Ferrosilicon is commonly used as a deoxidizing agent in the production of steel and cast iron. It reacts with oxygen and other impurities present in the molten metal, reducing them and preventing the formation of defects in the final product.
