Silicon calcium alloy plays an important role in the steel industry. It is mainly used for:
- Silicon calcium alloy is used as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in the steelmaking industry. Silicon and calcium in silicon calcium alloy have a strong affinity for oxygen, and calcium has a strong affinity for sulfur. The deoxidation and desulfurization products can easily float up and be removed, improving the performance of steel and increasing its plasticity and impact toughness.
- Silicon calcium alloy can be used as an effective warming agent. Adding silicon calcium alloy powder to the head of the steel ingot as a heating agent can improve the quality of steel and the yield rate.
- Silicon calcium alloy is used as a deoxidizing, desulfurizing and inoculant in cast iron production. Silicon calcium alloy improves the performance of cast iron more effectively than ferrosilicon.
In actual use, in order to more effectively play the role of silicon calcium alloy, the particle size of the alloy should be about 2mm, and it should be added directly to the iron flow trough, iron mixing furnace or iron ladle.
