Key Advantages
Structural Benefits
- Time-proven, versatile, and technically sound system
- Lower cost and faster installation than traditional methods
- Installs quickly with small or handheld equipment
- Can be installed in limited-access areas or tight spaces
- Maintains site cleanliness and minimizes landscape damage
- Soil load bearing capacity is tested during installation
- Available with single, double and triple helix blades
Installation Process
Screw piles are wound into the ground much like a screw into wood. Installation requires various earthmoving equipment fitted with rotary hydraulic attachments, ranging from skid-steer loaders to 5-80 tonne excavators with torque capacities from 5,000 Nm to 500,000 Nm.
Installation Steps
- Attach helical pile lead section to torque motor (drive head)
- Apply crowd to force pilot point into ground at proper location
- Rotate pile into ground in smooth, clockwise, continuous manner
- Add extension sections as needed for required depth
- Incorporate top of pile into foundation system via bracket
Applications
Helical piles are used worldwide to secure residential and commercial buildings, tower foundations, heavy equipment foundations, and various deep foundation system applications including lighthouses, roads, railroads, telecommunications, and photovoltaic support systems.
