Molybdenum Heating Element Overview
High-performance U-type molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) heating elements designed for extreme temperature applications up to 1800°C. These elements offer exceptional thermal stability and durability in industrial furnace environments.
Installation Guidelines
Mounting Orientation
Due to material properties—brittle at room temperature but plastic at high temperatures—U-shaped rods require vertical suspension installation to prevent mechanical stress on heating ends. Horizontal installation is possible with proper high-temperature refractory material support.
Critical Installation Requirements
  • Bottom conical section must extend into furnace to prevent localized overheating
  • Lead wire length should slightly exceed straight-line distance between element and busbar to avoid stress transmission
  • Clamp screws should not be fully tightened initially; retighten at operating temperature when element gains plasticity
  • Chuck temperature must remain below 200°C with contact voltage under 0.1V
  • Maintain minimum 50mm clearance between chuck lower end and plug brick top to prevent radiant heat transfer
