Manual starters are devices operated manually, featuring simple operation without requiring expert intervention. The starter includes a button or rotary knob that enables users to turn connected equipment on or off through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts.

Important Note: This starter type doesn't break the control circuit during power loss, meaning the motor could restart automatically when voltage is restored - a critical safety consideration for some applications.

When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or traditional key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid, which transmits power from the battery to the starter motor.

The electrical current activates both the starter motor and the starter drive (Bendix gear system), engaging the vehicle's flywheel. As the starter motor turns, it cranks the engine to initiate the combustion process in petrol and diesel vehicles.

Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the gear and flywheel as external electrical assistance is no longer required.
