Product Description
Prefabricated Quick Assembly Steel Industrial Prefabricated Metal Prefab Factory Building Workshop Shed Beam Hangar Warehouse Column Building Steel Structure
Project Case: 18×36m Open-Front Steel Shed in Spain
Project Overview:
- This project involved the design, fabrication, and supply of a customized open-front steel shed (Dimensions: 18m width × 36m depth × 4m height) for a client in Spain. The structure features three-sided cladding (with one 36m side fully open) and a complete roofing system, ideal for industrial storage, logistics, or workshop use.
Key Features & Materials
| Category | Specifications | Purpose/Advantage |
| Main Structure | Q355B H-Beams (fabricated, cut, assembled, rectified) | High-strength frame for structural integrity and load-bearing capacity. |
| Surface Treatment | Shotblasted to SA 2.5 grade; primer: red-lead paint, topcoat: mild-grey paint | Superior corrosion resistance, suitable for industrial environments. |
| Cladding | Roof & Wall: 0.5mm single metal sheets; Galvanized C180×2.0mm purlins | Lightweight yet durable; galvanized purlins prevent rust and extend lifespan. |
| Design | Open-front (36m side) + three-sided walls | Optimal accessibility for vehicles/machinery and natural ventilation. |
| Fasteners | M20 (10.9S) high-strength bolts; M24×850mm anchor bolts; M12/M16 bolts | Secure connections; anchor bolts provide stability against wind/uplift forces. |
| Accessories | Φ12 tied rods, ridge caps, gutters, Φ110 downpipes, screws, rivets, silicone | Complete weatherproofing and drainage solution; ensures structural rigidity. |
Why This Solution Worked
- Customization: The open-front design met the client’s need for unrestricted access and airflow.
- Durability: SA 2.5 shotblasting + dual-layer painting and galvanized purlins ensure longevity in harsh conditions.
- Cost-Efficiency: Pre-fabricated components reduced on-site labor time and costs.
- Full Package: All accessories (drainage, fasteners, sealants) were included for seamless installation.
Value Delivered
- Quick Deployment: Pre-engineered components enabled fast assembly.
- Low Maintenance: Robust materials minimize future upkeep.
- Compliance: Materials and processes align with European industrial standards.

What info is needed for a custom building?
To design and build a custom steel structure, you typically need to provide:
- Intended Use: What will the building be used for? (Warehouse, office, factory, etc.)
- Size & Dimensions: Desired length, width, height (eave height & peak height).
- Location: Site address and conditions (soil type, wind speed, snow load, seismic zone - critical for design).
- Layout Requirements: Where do you need doors, windows, cranes, mezzanines, offices, columns (if any specific placement needed)?
- Load Requirements: What weights will the floors/roof need to support? (Storage, equipment, vehicles, people, potential cranes).
- Cladding Preferences: Type of wall and roof covering (metal panels, brick, etc.), insulation needs.
- Foundation: Any existing foundation, or will a new one be built? (Impacts design).
- Budget & Timeline: Rough estimates help guide the design and feasibility.
- Special Requirements: Cranes, ventilation systems, specific clearances, fire rating needs, aesthetic preferences.
Key Advantages:
- Strong & Durable: Steel is very strong for its weight and resists forces like wind and earthquakes well. It doesn't rot or get eaten by insects.
- Fast Construction: Components are pre-fabricated off-site. On-site assembly is quick, reducing overall project time.
- Design Flexibility: Steel allows for large open spaces without many supporting columns (long spans) and complex architectural shapes.
- Cost-Effective (Often): Faster construction saves labor costs. Predictable material costs and potential for reuse/recycling add value.
- Lighter Weight: Weighs less than concrete, meaning smaller, less expensive foundations.
- Potential for Adaptability: Easier to modify or expand later compared to some other structures.
- Sustainable: Steel is highly recyclable.
Installation Process Explained
Our steel structure building installation follows a standardized and efficient 12-step process:
- 1-2 Foundation
Prepare the concrete base according to the structural load requirements and install the pre-embedded anchor bolts as per the foundation construction drawings.
- 3-4 Columns
Erect the steel columns using a truck crane, with one worker guiding and 3-4 workers assisting. Secure each column onto the anchor bolts and add temporary bracing.
- 5 Roof Beams
After two adjacent steel columns are installed, begin installing the main roof beams to connect and stabilize the structure.
- 6-7 Purlins
Install roof and wall purlins after completing the column and beam installation. Bolt them securely onto the main structure to support cladding panels.
- 8 Purlin Rods
Reinforce the frame by installing horizontal tie rods between purlins for added stability.
- 9 Water Gutter
Install the gutter system along the eaves to ensure proper drainage and prevent water accumulation.
- 10-11 Cladding
Attach wall sheets to wall purlins with self-tapping screws, then install roof sheets. For insulated buildings, fix sandwich panels to both walls and roof.
- 12 Completion
Install covers at corners, eaves, windows, and doors; fit windows and doors in place; conduct a final inspection - your steel building is ready for use.
