VOD/VD Refining Furnace Overview
Industrial-grade VOD/VD refining furnace designed for efficient dehydrogenation and denitrification in metal smelting processes, featuring 67Pa vacuum degree capability.
Refining Process Capabilities
Dehydrogenation Process
Achieves hydrogen content ≤1.5 ppm in molten steel when vacuum degree reaches ≤133Pa. Working vacuum degree maintained below 67Pa for optimal dehydrogenation rate, accounting for operating process, steel grade, raw material state, and argon stirring parameters.
Denitrification Process
While nitrogen content relates to alloy elements and is difficult to remove, we recommend reducing nitrogen content before VD treatment and extending treatment time for optimal results.
Desulfurization Process
Sulfur content maintains constant proportion with oxygen. The vacuum treatment's deoxidation process simultaneously serves as desulfurization. For ultra-low sulfur steel grades, desulfurizers with strong sulfur affinity are utilized.
Argon Stirring System
Argon blown through ladle's breathable brick circulates molten steel, enhancing physical and chemical reactions. Features independent argon flow adjustment systems with mass flow control modules for precise automatic regulation.

Technological Process Flow
VD Process Sequence: Bridge crane transports refined molten steel ladle from LF furnace to vacuum tank. Vacuum cover truck moves to treatment station for temperature measurement and sampling. Vacuum tank lid descends and seals. Vacuum pump activates until reaching 67Pa for high vacuum degassing (15-20 minute treatment). Process concludes with vacuum main valve closure, vacuum break, lid lifting, final measurements, cover car return to standby, argon cessation, and ladle transfer to continuous casting station.
