1. Commands

Refer to the Technical Manual for the SSD1306

2. Power Sequence

To protect OEL panel and extend its lifetime, follow these power up/down sequences:

2.1 Power up Sequence:
  1. Power up VDD
  2. Send Display off command
  3. Initialization
  4. Clear Screen
  5. Power up VCC/VBAT
  6. Delay 100ms (When VCC is stable)
  7. Send Display on command

2.2 Power down Sequence:
  1. Send Display off command
  2. Power down VCC/VBAT
  3. Delay 100ms (When VCC/VBAT reaches 0 and panel completely discharges)
  4. Power down VDD

Important Notes:
  1. An ESD protection circuit is connected between VDD and VCC inside the driver IC
  2. VCC/VBAT should be kept float (disable) when OFF
  3. Power Pins (VDD, VCC, VBAT) must never be pulled to ground
  4. VDD should not be powered down before VCC/VBAT power down
3. Reset Circuit

When RES# input is low, the chip is initialized with:

  • Display is OFF
  • 128x64 Display Mode
  • Normal segment and display data column and row address mapping
  • Shift register data clear in serial interface
  • Display start line set at display RAM address 0
  • Column address counter set at 0
  • Normal scan direction of the COM outputs
  • Contrast control register set at 7Fh
  • Normal display mode (Equivalent to A4h command)
Important Precautions
  1. Fixed patterns may cause after-images; normal state can be restored after unused period
  2. Avoid touching pins, electrodes, and FPC patterns to prevent static electricity damage
  3. Shield the OEL driver from light during operation and inspection to prevent malfunction
  4. The OEL display module stores operation state data by commands
