Product Description

Stainless Steel Nozzle Neck ASME BPVC Section VIII for High Pressure Equiment

Our Nozzle Neck is manufactured from high strength materials such as ASTM A105 carbon steel or ASTM A182 stainless steel for use in high pressure, high temperature and corrosive environments. Sizes range from DN15 to DN1200, and wall thicknesses are in accordance with ASME B36.10, ensuring superior strength and durability.

We offer a wide range of connection options (welded, flanged or threaded) and custom fabrication is available upon request. All products undergo strict non-destructive testing and surface treatment to ensure compliance with ASME, EN and API standards. They are widely used in petroleum, chemical, power and food industries.

Common material grades
The choice of material for the Nozzle Neck depends on the application scenario (e.g. pressure, temperature, corrosiveness of the medium, etc.). The following are some common material grades:

  • Carbon Steel:

        ASTM A105 (forgings)

ASTM A106 Gr. B (seamless steel pipe)

        ASTM A234 WPB (pipe fittings)

  • Stainless Steel:

ASTM A182 F304/F304L (general purpose austenitic stainless steel)

ASTM A182 F316/F316L (higher corrosion resistance)

ASTM A182 F321 (high temperature resistant)

  • Alloy Steel:

ASTM A182 F11 (chromium-molybdenum steel, high temperature and pressure resistant)

        ASTM A182 F22 (higher strength chromium-molybdenum steel)

  • Low Temperature Steels:

ASTM A350 LF2 (for cryogenic environments)

  • Duplex Stainless Steel:

ASTM A182 F51/F53 (corrosion resistance and high strength)

Common Sizes
The Nozzle Neck is typically sized according to the calibre and pressure rating of the connecting pipe or vessel. The following are some common size ranges:

  • Nominal Diameter (DN):

DN15 to DN1200 (or larger, as required)

  • Wall Thickness:

Common wall thickness grades according to ASME B36.10 or EN 10255 include:

  • Wall Thickness:

Common wall thickness grades according to ASME B36.10 or EN 10255 include:

SCH 5S, SCH 10S, SCH 40S, SCH 80S (stainless steel)

SCH 40, SCH 80, SCH 160 (carbon and alloy steel)

  • Length:

Standard lengths are typically 150mm to 600mm and can be customised to meet customer requirements.

Design Requirements
The Nozzle Neck is designed to meet the following requirements:

Strength Requirements: Wall thickness and stresses are calculated in accordance with ASME BPVC Section VIII or EN 13445.

Sealing: Ensure that there are no leaks at connections to vessels or pipework, usually welded or flanged.

Fluid dynamics: Smooth interior walls to reduce resistance to media flow.

Corrosion resistance: According to the characteristics of the medium to select the appropriate material (such as stainless steel or duplex stainless steel).

Processing
Manufacturing of the Nozzle Neck typically involves the following processes:

  • Forging:Used for Neck with high strength requirements, typically ASTM A105 or ASTM A182.
  • Casting:For complex shaped Neck, typically ASTM A216 WCB (carbon steel) or ASTM A351 CF8 (stainless steel).
  • Machining:To ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish, typically for flanged joint faces or threaded work.
  • Heat Treating:Used to improve the strength and toughness of materials, common processes include normalising, quenching and tempering.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):Includes ultrasonic testing (UT), radiographic testing (RT) and magnetic particle testing (MT) to ensure that there are no defects.

Surface Finishing
Polishing:
Used for stainless steel Neck to improve corrosion resistance and aesthetics.

Coating:Used on carbon steel Neck, such as epoxy coating or galvanising, to improve corrosion resistance.

Pickling Passivation:Used on stainless steel Neck to remove surface oxidation and form a passivated film.

Connection Methods
Nozzle Neck connections typically include:

Welded connections: Suitable for high pressure or high temperature environments in accordance with ASME Section IX or EN ISO 15614.

Flanged connections, common flange types include:

  • Butt Weld Flanges (WN)
  • Flat Welding Flanges (SO)
  • Threaded flanges (TH)

Threaded connections: Suitable for low pressure or small equipment.

Standard Specifications
The Nozzle Neck is designed and manufactured in accordance with the following standards:

ASME Standards: ASME BPVC Section VIII (Pressure Vessels)ASME B16.5 (Flange and Nozzle Connections)ASME B36.10 (Pipe Sizing)

EN Standards: EN 13445 (Pressure Vessels)EN 1092-1 (Flanges)

API Standards: API 6A (oil and gas equipment)

Typical applications
Oil and gas:
For wellhead equipment, piping systems and pressure vessels.

Chemical Industry: For reactors, tanks and heat exchangers.

Power industry: For boilers, turbines and nuclear power plant equipment.

Food and Pharmaceutical: Used in sanitary equipment, usually in stainless steel.
