Normalized Condition (N): normalizing heat treatment
Chemical & Mechanical Analysis: comply with ASME Section II, ensuring tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation
Ultrasonic Testing (UT): ensuring the 19mm thickness remains uniform and flaw-free.
Impact Testing: Charpy V-notch tests may be required to verify toughness at the minimum design metal temperature (MDMT)
Exchange Tube (SA-179) Delivery & Heat Treatment
Delivery State: Cold-Drawn state
Heat Treatment: Annealed after the final cold-draw pass
Specific Note (Note 10): additional heat treatment or stress relieving may be required to ensure ductility for the expanding or welding process into the 160mm thick mirror plate (Item 64).
