- Sulfur (S): 0.035% max
This composition provides good strength, weldability, and heat resistance suitable for boiler and heat exchanger applications.

ASME SA179 tubes are seamless, meaning they are manufactured without welding, which ensures a uniform structure and superior mechanical strength. The typical production process involves:
- Hot-rolling a solid steel billet to the desired tube diameter and wall thickness.
- Cold-drawing (optional) for tighter dimensional tolerances and improved surface finish.
- Heat treatment to relieve stress and enhance mechanical properties.
