A significant characteristic of A694 F42 is its strength rating matching with API 5L X42 line pipe – a core requirement for flange and pipe material matching in long-distance oil and gas pipeline projects. The "42" in F42 represents its minimum yield strength of 42 ksi (approximately 290 MPa). The A694 series is divided into nine grades based on minimum yield strength: F42, F46, F48, F50, F52, F56, F60, F65, and F70, with F42 being the basic grade in this series.
