Bit Face Shape Options
1. Drop Center Bit
Ideal for high penetration rates in soft to medium hard and fissured rock formations. Works with low to medium air pressures and provides maximum hole deviation control.
2. Concave Face
Versatile all-round application bit face for medium hard and homogeneous rock formations. Offers good hole deviation control and excellent flushing capacity.
3. Convex Face
Delivers high penetration rates in soft to medium-hard formations with low to medium air pressures. Provides maximum resistance to steel wash and reduces load on gauge buttons, though with less hole deviation control.
4. Double Gauge Face
Designed for fast penetration in medium to hard rock formations. Optimized for high air pressures with good resistance to steel wash in step gauge applications.
5. Flat Face Bit
Suitable for hard to very hard and abrasive rock formations in high air pressure applications. Provides good penetration rates and steel wash resistance.
Carbide Button Shape Selection
1. Domed/Round Button
Typically used as gauge buttons, suitable for all abrasive and very hard rock formations.
2. Parabolic/Semi-Ballistic Buttons
Commonly used as both gauge and front buttons, ideal for medium abrasive and hard formations.
3. Ballistic Button
Primarily used as front buttons for medium abrasive and medium hard formations. Can serve as gauge buttons in soft rock conditions.
4. Sharp Button
Designed as front buttons for soft formations where fast penetration rates are achievable.
5. Flat Button
Used as protection buttons to minimize wear on rubbing surfaces of DTH bits.
