24GHz Millimeter Wave Radar System Blind Spot Detection

INTRODUCTION

24GHz millimeter wave radar is a low-budget blind spot detection solution. It is installed in the left and right of the rear bumper, and detect if there is object approaching in short distance. When an approaching object is detected in the blind area, the system will warn the driver by buzzer and LED lamp to reduce the accident happens during lane changing.

APPLICATIONS

Blind Spot Detection(BSD)  

Blind spot detection area: 3*15m rectangular range in the both adjacent lanes.(as the shaded area in figure 1~4.) 

• When other vehicle is entering the pre-set BSD area, the radar system will alert the driver by LED warning light. In the meanwhile, if the turn signal is on, the radar system will alert the driver by LED warning light flashing and beeper accordingly. (figure 1)

• Active Overtaking Assistance(AOA): when other vehicle is relatively stationary within the BSD area, or exits the BSD area backwards at a low speed, the radar system will alert the driver. (figure 2)

• When the vehicle exits the BSD area forward, the radar system will end the alarm. (figure 3)

• When other vehicle is approaching outside the BSD area, the radar system gives no warning. (figure 4) 

Remark: The blind spot detection area can be adjusted accord to different vehicle, such as van, bus, or truck.
