SWA Copper Multi Core Armoured Cable is engineered for robust electrical power distribution with voltage ratings of 600V/1000V. Available in 2, 3, 4, and 5 core configurations, this armored power cable features steel wire protection and XLPE insulation for superior durability and performance in demanding environments.
Applications
Designed for mains electricity supply applications, this cable is ideal for power networks, underground installations, and both external and internal wiring systems. The steel wire armouring provides exceptional mechanical protection for direct burial applications, while XLPE insulation ensures reliable operation in harsh conditions with resistance to heat, chemicals, fluids, and UV exposure.

- Material: Plain circular, compacted, or shaped stranded copper/aluminium
- Types: RE (Circular solid), CC (Compacted circular stranded), SM (Sector-shaped stranded)
Insulation
- Material: XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene)
- Temperature Rating: 90°C
Core Color Identification
- 1 Core: Red or Black
- 2 Cores: Red, Black
- 3 Cores: Red, Yellow, Blue
- 4 Cores: Red, Yellow, Blue, Black
- 5 Cores: Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, Green
- Above 5 Cores: Black with white numerals

Assembly / Inner Sheath
Insulated cores laid up with non-hygroscopic fillers and extruded PVC bedding (omitted for non-armoured cables).
Armouring
- Multi-core cables: Galvanized steel wires or Aluminium/Steel tapes (IEC 60502)
- Single-core cables: Aluminium wire armour to prevent magnetic losses
Outer Sheath
- Standard: PVC (Type ST2 per IEC 60502-1 or Type 9 per BS 6346/5467)
- Special Sheath Options (on request): Fire Retardant, Anti-Termite, Anti-Rodent, UV/Oil-Resistant PVC
- Alternative Materials: LLDPE, MDPE, HDPE, LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), CPE
Fire Performance
- Flame-retardant options available (IEC 60332-3-22/23/24 compliant)
- LSHF (Low Smoke Halogen Free) sheathing per IEC 60502-1, BS 7211, BS 6724
