Bailey Bridges are portable steel bridges that have been widely used in various fields. Their most important features include the ability to achieve various spans, bear carrying capacity, light and handy components, easy dismantling, and strong adaptability that allows quick completion with simple tools and manpower.

The Bailey bridge panel consists of panels, pins, post end, bolt, chord reinforcement, truss bolt and chord bolt. The bridge deck system includes beam, longitudinal beam, bridge panel, and edge material. The connecting system comprises a diagonal brace, a connecting plate, a support frame, and a pull bar. The bridge base is composed of bridge seat (support), seat plate, lap plate, and lap plate support.

Bailey Bridge is a standard bridge equipment, adopted extensively and the most popular in the world.

Bailey Bridges can be erected in various forms including Temporary Bridges, Emergency Bridges and Fixed Bridges. Using the bridge equipment, suspension bridges of varied span can be erected. The bridge has the advantages of few components, light weight and low cost.

Bailey Bridge requires no special tools or heavy equipment for construction. The bridge elements are small enough to be carried in, yet the bridge is strong enough to carry heavy loads. It is considered a great example of military engineering.

For added strength, up to three panels (and transoms) can be bolted on either side of the bridge. Another solution is to stack the panels vertically. With three panels across and two high, the Bailey Bridge can support tanks over a 200-foot span (61 m). Footways can be installed on the outside of the side-panels, forming an effective barrier between foot and vehicle traffic.

Mainly used for setting up single-span temporary bridges, ensuring that various vehicles with crawler load of 500KN and lower than tire load of 300KN (axial pressure of 130KN) pass through rivers, broken bridges, gullies and other obstacles. Can be used to repair damaged bridges, and also to build construction towers, supporting frames, gantry frames and other assembled steel structures.
