- Slot Walls Milled Parallel And Gauged.The inner faces of the U are cut, then gauged for width and parallelism once the block comes back from treatment, so the mating part enters without being driven in.
- Cross Holes Line Up Through Both Sides.The two holes are drilled and reamed from one setup so a pin passes through both sides, and the hole entries are chamfered so the pin starts clean.
- Slot Base Radius Blended Clean.The radius at the bottom of the slot is blended into the walls, leaving no step or sharp corner for a pin or a load to sit against.
Steel Grade & Traceability Records
These forks are milled from 1Cr17Ni2 martensitic stainless steel (AISI 431 class), quenched and tempered to the hardness the drawing calls for. 17-4PH and 420 stainless are also available where a different balance of toughness and corrosion resistance is needed. Every shipment includes CMM Dimensional Inspection Reports and Material Mill Certificates, and hardness records travel with the parts.

Treatment moves a fork more than it moves a solid block: the legs can come back slightly closed, and the two cross holes can drift a little out of line with each other, so the pin will not pass and the fork will not sit over its mating part. 7 Swords (Swords Precision) mills these 1Cr17Ni2 forks with allowance for the treatment cycle and re-checks slot width, leg faces and hole alignment on the CMM, so the fork goes together first time at the hardness the drawing calls for.
