Incoloy 800 Strip High Temperature Strength Oxidation Carburization Resistance
Incoloy 800 Strips: High-Temperature Strength and Oxidation and Carburization Resistance
Product Overview
Incoloy 800 Strips (UNS N08800) are wrought, nickel-iron-chromium alloys designed to withstand continuous exposures up to 816 °C (1500 °F) while resisting oxidation, carburization, and chloride stress-corrosion cracking. The alloy’s chemistry—30.0–35.0 % Ni, 19.0–23.0 % Cr, and ≥ 39.5 % Fe—ensures an austenitic microstructure that remains stable without precipitation hardening. In the annealed strip condition, tensile strengths range from 400 to 600 MPa, yield strengths from 150 to 450 MPa, and elongation exceeds 30 %, delivering a unique balance of strength and ductility for stamping, slitting, and fine blanking . High chromium and aluminum contents form a protective chromia scale at temperature, while silicon and manganese enhance resistance to sulphidation and carburization in gas-turbine and furnace environments. Excellent weldability (TIG/GTAW, EB) and consistent mechanical properties post-weld enable fabrication of diaphragms, bellows, springs, and heat-exchanger fins without embrittlement . Strips are supplied in thicknesses from 0.1 mm to 5 mm and widths up to 300 mm, with mill-annealed or cold-worked finishes per ASTM B407/ASME SB-407, AMS 5542, and ISO 15156-3/NACE MR0175-3.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why choose Incoloy 800 Strips for high-temperature service?
A1: Solid-solution strengthening without precipitation aging provides stable mechanical properties and oxidation resistance up to 816 °C, plus resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking.
Q2: Are Incoloy 800 Strips weldable and formable?
A2: Yes—TIG/GTAW and electron-beam welding yield sound joints; excellent ductility (≥ 30 % elongation) supports stamping, slitting, and fine-blanking with minimal springback.
Q3: What strip dimensions and finishes are available?
A3: Thicknesses from 0.1 mm to 5 mm, widths up to 300 mm; supplied mill-annealed or cold-worked per ASTM B407/ASME SB-407 and AMS 5542.
