Description             

Geocell is a three-dimensional honeycomb mesh structure material formed by ultrasonic welding of high-strength HDPE (high-density polyethylene) sheets. It is widely used in the field of civil engineering to improve the stability of the project by limiting the lateral displacement of the soil and dispersing the load.

Basic structure and material properties

      1. Three-dimensional mesh structure

A single piece of HDPE sheet is welded to form a honeycomb grid, which can be folded during transportation and unfolded and filled with loose materials such as sand, concrete, etc. during construction to form an overall structure with high lateral stiffness.

2. Material properties

Lightweight and durable: light weight, wear resistance, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, and adaptable to the temperature range of -50℃~60℃.

Anti-aging: stable chemical properties, anti-ultraviolet oxidation, and service life of more than 50 years.

Engineering Principles

     1. Three-dimensional confinement effect

      Through the lateral constraints of the cell walls and the friction of the filler, the movement of the active zone, transition zone, and passive zone of        the soil is suppressed, the shear deformation is reduced, and the bearing capacity is improved (experiments show that the apparent cohesion of        sand can be increased by more than 30 times).

      2. Dispersed load

      The honeycomb structure evenly distributes the concentrated load to a larger range, reduces the foundation pressure, and reduces settlement            and deformation.

Main application areas

Roadbed reinforcement

· Half-fill and half-excavation roadbed: solve uneven settlement through lateral restriction.

· Desert/soft foundation treatment: replace traditional sand and gravel replacement, reduce costs by more than 50%, and adapt to loose foundation.

· Frozen area: reduce slurry overturning and the upper limit of frozen layer decline, maintain roadbed stiffness.
