Uniaxial Biaxial Grid Aperture Size 50.8mm Coated Sbr Reinforcement Polyester Geogrid Road Paving Weak Ground
Do you Know the Problem in Railway & Highway Foundations?
Before geogrids, building on soft, weak subgrades (the native soil) was a major challenge:
Rutting and Differential Settlement: Heavy, repeated loads from trains or trucks cause the weak soil
to shift and push sideways, leading to ruts, potholes, and uneven settlement.
Mixing of Layers: The aggregate base layer can punch down into the soft subsoil, and fine-grained subsoil
can pump up into the aggregate, contaminating it and reducing its drainage and strength properties.
This is a critical issue for railways with ballast.
High Maintenance Costs: Constant repair, re-leveling of tracks, and resurfacing of pavements are expensive and disruptive.
How the Geogrid Solves These Problems ?
The coated polyester geogrid acts as a reinforcing tensile element within the soil, a function that soil alone lacks.
It works through two primary mechanisms:
Lateral Restraint (Membrane Effect):
The geogrid is placed at the interface between the soft subgrade and the aggregate base course (or ballast).
When a load is applied, the aggregate tries to penetrate the subgrade. The geogrid, with its high tensile strength,
resists this movement.
It effectively "tightens" and acts like a membrane, spreading the vertical load over a wider area of the weak subsoil.
This significantly reduces vertical deformation (settlement).
Improved Bearing Capacity (Tensile Reinforcement):
The geogrid interlocks with the aggregate particles in its apertures.
This interaction creates a mechanically stabilized composite layer that has much higher stiffness and bearing capacity
than the un-reinforced soil and aggregate.
It prevents the lateral spreading of the base course, confining the aggregate and maintaining its structural integrity.

Yixing Shenzhou Geosynthetics Coated SBR Reinforcement Polyester Geogrid is a premium geosynthetic solution
designed for the most demanding infrastructure projects. Its combination of:
High-Strength, Low-Creep Polyester Core for long-term stability, and
Abrasion-Resistant SBR Coating for durability during installation and service,
makes it an ideal choice for reinforcing the foundations of railways and highways.
It transforms a weak, two-layer system (soil + aggregate) into a strong, composite,
three-layer system (soil + geogrid + aggregate), leading to a more durable, long-lasting, and cost-effective infrastructure asset.
Polyester Geogrids Application :
PVC-coated polyester geogrids are used in all major reinforcement applications,
especially where long-term performance is critical:
Reinforced Soil Retaining Walls (MSE Walls):
The primary application, where they provide the tensile strength to hold the soil mass together.
Steep Slope Reinforcement: Stabilizes slopes at angles steeper than natural soil would allow.
Basal Reinforcement over Soft Soils:
Used to construct embankments and roads over soft, compressible ground by distributing
loads and providing a stable platform.
Landfill Liners and Capping Systems:
Reinforces the sides and covers of landfills, providing stability to the composite liner system.
