The domestic waste sorting line integrates AI visual recognition and mechanical sorting technology. When the material flows through the spectral sorter, the near-infrared sensor instantly identifies the plastic material, and the high-pressure airflow accurately blows it off the conveyor belt. The magnetic separation equipment uses adjustable magnetic field strength to classify and recycle metals with different magnetic properties. At a transfer station in Hangzhou, the sorting line has achieved a purity of 98% for recyclables, increasing carbon emissions by about 4,500 tons per year, equivalent to planting 250,000 more trees.

1. Initial Feeding Stage
   • A forklift delivers the waste materials to the feeding platform, where a hopper collects and transfers them into the system.
2. Distribution & Conveying
   • A feeder evenly spreads out the waste, which is then transported via a conveyor belt to the next stage for further processing.
3. Manual Sorting
   • As the waste moves along the manual sorting platform, workers remove oversized items such as large branches, sticks, bricks, bottles, and other non-processable debris.
4. Mechanical Separation
   • A rotating screening machine divides the waste into two categories based on size:
     • Over 50mm (hole size optimized for real-world waste composition): Includes recyclable items like plastic bottles, shoe soles, and similar materials.
     • Under 50mm: Primarily consists of fine metal fragments.
   • A high-strength magnetic separator further extracts ferrous metals from the waste stream.
5. Final Processing & Recycling
   • Plastics are compacted using a baler for easy storage and transport.
   • Heavy non-recyclable waste is either sent directly to landfills or crushed for alternative uses (e.g., brick production).
   • Mixed materials undergo additional sorting to recover any remaining reusable components before recycling.

This structured approach ensures efficient waste segregation, maximizes resource recovery, and minimizes landfill dependency.
