TF card (TransFlash card) is the old name of microSD card, commonly used in mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, drones, portable game consoles and other devices. It is a small removable memory card, usually 15mm x 11mm x 1mm, which is much smaller than a normal SD card and is suitable for devices that require small storage media.
Relationship between TF card and microSD card
Originally, TF cards were introduced by SanDisk in 2004 as a smaller storage medium than SD cards. Later, the SD Association standardized the TF card and renamed it microSD card, thus becoming the standard name in the market.
Although the name has changed, "TF card" and "microSD card" refer to the same card, but with different names. Now, it is generally called microSD card in the market, and "TF card" is more of a historical name.
TF card classification
TF card (microSD card) can be divided into several types according to the different storage capacity and performance:
- microSD: Usually refers to a card with a smaller capacity, usually 2GB or less.
- microSDHC (High Capacity) : The capacity is usually between 4GB and 32GB.
- microSDXC (eXtended Capacity) : The capacity can range from 32GB to 2TB to support higher data storage requirements.
- microSDUC (Ultra Capacity) : Capacity can support more than 2TB, usually newer high-capacity cards.
