Manufacturing Process
The paper cup roll is the starting point of the production line. Its purpose is to allow for continuous, high-speed, and efficient manufacturing.
- Unwinding: The master roll is loaded onto the cup-making machine.
- Printing (Optional): The paper web is fed through a flexographic printing unit where designs and logos are printed onto it. (Sometimes printing is done before the roll is sent to the cup maker).
- Die-Cutting: The continuous printed paperboard is fed into a die-cutting machine. This machine punches out the flat, fan-shaped pieces (paper cup fans) and the circular discs for the cup bottoms.
- Cup Forming: These flat fans are then automatically fed into the next part of the machine, where they are rolled into a cone, their side seam is sealed, and the bottom is attached to form a finished paper cup.
