The bottom roll is not a single material of thin paper, but a composite structural material to meet its functional requirements.
1. Paper Cup Base Paper or Food Grade Cardboard
- High weight and stiffness: usually thicker and harder than cup paper. The common weight range is between 190gsm and 350gsm to ensure the firmness of the bottom.
- Food grade safety: Made from native wood pulp, meets food safety standards (such as Chinese GB 4806.8 and US FDA standards), and does not contain harmful substances.
- Purity: It has a good fiber structure and uniformity, without impurities.
2. Polyethylene Coating
- Heat sealing: This is the most critical characteristic. Under the heating and pressure of the paper cup machine, the PE coating on the bottom roll will melt and fuse with the PE coating on the inside of the cup body, forming a strong seal.
- Waterproof and moisture-proof: PE coating can effectively block moisture, prevent liquid from penetrating into the interior of the base paper, thereby avoiding softening and cracking of the cup bottom.
- Barrier property: It has a good barrier effect on liquids and certain gases.
