Manufacturing Process
- Unwinding: The master roll is loaded onto the cup-making machine
- Printing (Optional): The paper web is fed through a flexographic printing unit where designs and logos are printed (sometimes printing is done before the roll is sent to the cup maker)
- Die-Cutting: The continuous printed paperboard is fed into a die-cutting machine that punches out flat, fan-shaped pieces and circular discs for cup bottoms
- Cup Forming: Flat fans are automatically rolled into cones, side seams are sealed, and bottoms are attached to form finished paper cups
