Our 100% Polyester Fully Drawn Yarn (FDY) is engineered for superior performance across knitting, sewing, weaving, and hand knitting applications. How is it Made? (The Process)
The production of FDY is a continuous, integrated process. The "drawing" happens immediately after spinning, unlike other yarns where drawing is a separate step.

Melting & Extrusion: Polyester chips (the raw material) are melted.

Spinning (Spinneret): The molten polymer is forced through a tiny hole (or a set of holes called a spinneret) to form a continuous filament. At this stage, the molecules are unaligned and weak.

Quenching: The hot filaments are cooled down rapidly by blowing air to solidify them.

Drawing & Heating (The Key FDY Step): The solidified filaments are immediately stretched (drawn) over a set of heated rollers (godets). The speed of the second set of rollers is significantly higher than the first, which stretches the yarn.

This drawing under heat aligns the polymer chains, making the yarn stronger, smoother, and less elastic.

Winding: The now fully oriented and crystallized yarn is wound onto bobbins or cones, ready for shipment and direct use.
