Xinhaisen specializes in manufacturing Etched Precision Shims using advanced Photo Chemical Machining (PCM) technology, also known as Chemical Etching or Photochemical Etching. This process enables the production of burr-free, stress-free, ultra-precise metal shims with intricate geometries that cannot be achieved economically by stamping or conventional machining.

Our etched precision shims are widely used for spacing, alignment, preload adjustment, tolerance compensation and precision assembly in industries requiring micron-level accuracy. Compared with laser cutting, stamping and CNC machining, photo etching delivers superior edge quality, maintains original material properties without heat distortion, and offers excellent repeatability for both prototype and volume production.

Manufacturing Process
Our metal gaskets are produced through a state-of-the-art photochemical etching process:

  • Cleaning: The selected metal sheet is thoroughly cleaned.

  • Coating: A light-sensitive photoresist is applied.

  • Exposure & Development: The desired gasket pattern is transferred from a digital tool (no hard tooling required) onto the coated metal using UV light.

  • Etching: The exposed areas are precisely etched away by a controlled chemical spray, forming the part.

  • Stripping & Finishing: The remaining photoresist is removed, followed by any required secondary finishes (e.g., plating, passivation).
