At many power plant sites, where large quantities of water were avaliable at low heads, the dimensions of francis turbine started becoming
too large and uneconomical, and another turbine named propeller turbine was developed.
This turbine has major parts like the scroll case, stay vanes, guide vanes and the draft tube similar to the francis turbine. However, the runner is different.
