Test principle

Powder particles are dropped from a certain height through a funnel onto a horizontal metal plate to form a cone. The angle between the cone surface and the bottom surface of the cone is measured to obtain the angle of repose. The angle of repose can also be calculated from the diameter and height of the cone. The angle of repose is one of the physical parameters that show the dynamic characteristics of the powder and is an important basis for designing dust removal equipment and feeding equipment. The size of the angle of repose can reflect the fluidity of the powder. The smaller the angle of repose, the better the fluidity of the powder.

Operation steps

1. Assemble the components of the measuring device on the test bench, make the device horizontal, and turn the protractor to make it vertical.

 

2. Put the powder into a 100ml sample measuring cup, plug the funnel outlet with a stopper, and slowly pour all the powder in the measuring cup into the funnel.

 

3. Pull out the stopper to make the powder flow out of the funnel hole; for powders with poor fluidity, you can knock on the funnel or use a needle to stir the powder so that the powder falls continuously through the funnel to the horizontal powder receiving plate to form a cone.

 

4. After all the dust has flowed out, use the protractor to measure the angle between the powder cone generatrix and the horizontal plane and record it. Repeat the measurement three times and calculate the arithmetic mean as the measurement result.
