Measurement Principle
This conductivity sensor operates on the principle that dissolved salts in water exist as ions that migrate under an applied electric field. Anions move toward the anode, enabling electrical conduction through the solution. Conductivity, the reciprocal of resistivity, serves as a critical water quality indicator by measuring total dissolved salt content and electrolyte concentration.
Conductivity exhibits temperature dependence and is typically standardized to 25°C for comparison. Lower conductivity values indicate higher water purity, making this sensor essential for water quality monitoring and process control applications.
Installation Methods
- Sidewall Installation: Ensure interface tilt angle exceeds 15 degrees
- Top Flange Installation: Consider flange dimensions and electrode insertion depth
- Pipe Installation: Account for pipe diameter, flow velocity, and pressure
- Flow-Through Installation: Monitor flow velocity and pressure conditions
- Submersion Installation: Adjust bracket length as required for application
