Measurement Principle
The sensor operates on the Nernst equation principle using a galvanic cell system that converts chemical reaction energy into electrical energy. This electrochemical measurement system consists of a measuring sensor and reference sensor for precise pH detection.
Maintenance Guidelines
- Before use, unscrew protective cap and immerse electrode bulb in sample solution
- Rinse with water if salt crystals form near electrode tip
- Check for air bubbles by shaking electrode vertically
- Keep glass membrane hydrated and store with 3 mol/L KCl solution
- Clean terminals with anhydrous alcohol if contaminated
- For aged electrodes, soak in 10% HCl solution then rinse thoroughly
Calibration Procedure
- Use fresh pH standard buffer solutions
- Rinse electrode with distilled water before calibration
- Set instrument to calibration mode following manufacturer instructions
- Perform regular calibration for optimal measurement accuracy
Product Lifespan
With proper maintenance, electrodes typically last over 12 months in normal operating conditions. Unused electrodes have a shelf life of 12-24 months when stored correctly. Note that exposure to extreme conditions may reduce operational lifespan.
