Measurement Principle
Water contains dissolved salts that exist as ions. When electrodes are inserted and current is applied, these charged ions move directionally under the electric field influence. Anions migrate toward the anode, enabling electrical conduction through the aqueous solution. This conductive capability is defined as conductivity.
Conductivity represents the reciprocal of resistivity and indicates the total dissolved salt content in water, serving as a critical water quality assessment parameter. It reveals electrolyte concentration levels in aqueous solutions. Higher electrolyte concentrations result in greater electrical conduction. By measuring solution conductivity, electrolyte solubility can be accurately analyzed, forming the fundamental principle of conductivity meters.
Conductivity exhibits significant temperature dependence. For aqueous solutions, conductivity depends on dissolved salt concentrations and chemical impurities that dissociate into electrolytes. Lower conductivity (higher resistivity) indicates purer water quality. Water conductivity is typically recorded as specific conductance at the standardized temperature of 25°C.
Installation Methods
Before use, unscrew the electrode protective cap and install using appropriate mounting brackets or accessories.
NPT3/4 316L Conductivity Sensor installation diagram showing multiple mounting configurations
  • Sidewall Installation: Ensure interface tilt angle exceeds 15 degrees
  • Top Flange Installation: Note flange dimensions and electrode insertion depth
  • Pipe Installation: Consider pipe diameter, flow velocity, and pressure requirements
  • Flow-Through Installation: Monitor flow velocity and pressure conditions
  • Submersion Installation: Adjust bracket length as needed for application
