Measurement Principle
This conductivity sensor operates on the principle that dissolved salts in water exist as ions, which move in specific directions when an electric field is applied. The anions migrate toward the anode, enabling the aqueous solution to conduct electricity. Conductivity represents the reciprocal of resistivity and serves as a critical indicator for assessing water quality by revealing the concentration of electrolytes present.
The sensor measures the conductivity of solutions to analyze electrolyte solubility, forming the fundamental analytical principle of conductivity meters. Water conductivity is temperature-dependent and is typically recorded as specific conductance at a standardized temperature of 25°C.
Installation Methods
Before installation, unscrew the electrode protective cap and use appropriate mounting brackets or accessories.
- Sidewall Installation: Ensure interface tilt angle exceeds 15 degrees
- Top Flange Installation: Note flange dimensions and electrode insertion depth
- Pipe Installation: Consider pipe diameter, flow velocity, and pressure
