Measurement Principle

This conductivity sensor operates on the principle that dissolved salts in water exist as ions, which migrate toward electrodes when electrical current is applied. The resulting electrical conduction provides a direct measurement of total dissolved solids (TDS) concentration.

Conductivity serves as the reciprocal of resistivity and represents a critical water quality parameter. The sensor's design accounts for temperature dependence, with specific conductance standardized to 25°C for consistent measurements across varying conditions.
