Measurement Principle
Conductivity measurement operates on the principle that dissolved salts in water exist as ions, which move in specific directions when an electric field is applied. This ionic movement enables the aqueous solution to conduct electricity, with conductivity serving as the reciprocal of resistivity.
The conductivity value directly reflects the total dissolved salt content in water, making it a critical indicator for water quality assessment. Higher conductivity indicates greater electrolyte concentration, while lower conductivity (higher resistivity) signifies purer water.
Temperature significantly affects conductivity measurements, which is why this sensor includes integrated temperature compensation and reports specific conductance standardized to 25°C.
Installation Methods
Before installation, unscrew the electrode protective cap and use appropriate mounting brackets or accessories.
- Sidewall Installation: Ensure interface tilt angle exceeds 15 degrees for optimal performance
- Top Flange Installation: Note flange dimensions and electrode insertion depth requirements
