Product Overview
The calcium ion-selective electrode (ISE) is a membrane electrode that generates potential based on ion exchange or diffusion. It consists of an ion-selective membrane, internal reference electrode (Ag/AgCl), and internal reference solution. The ISE measures electrical potential of calcium ions in solution relative to a reference electrode, enabling quantitative analysis through the relationship between potential and ion concentration.
Key Features
- Reagent-free, pollution-free operation for cost-effective and eco-friendly analysis
- Fast response time and stable signals using redox potential measurement
- Durable epoxy housing material for industrial applications
- High-quality sensor-specific cables ensure signal accuracy and stability
Pre-Measurement Preparation
- Remove protective cap from electrode tip
- Shake electrode downward to remove internal air bubbles
- For new or long-unused electrodes: activate by soaking in 1 ppm standard solution for at least 24 hours
- After activation: rinse with deionized water, blot dry, then immerse in deionized water for 5 minutes with stirring
Note: Avoid touching the sensitive area with fingers. Replace water multiple times during rinsing to prevent measurement errors.
Calibration Procedure
- Connect electrode to meter
- Pour 100 mL deionized water into 150 mL beaker and stir thoroughly
- Set meter to mV mode and immerse electrode
- Add 1 mL of 1000 ppm standard solution, stir, record reading (E₁)
- Add 10 mL of same standard solution, stir, record reading (E₂)
- Calculate slope at 25°C as E₂ - E₁ and compare with specifications
Troubleshooting & Storage
If slope deviates from specified range: prepare fresh diluted standard solution, soak electrode for 10 minutes, then recalibrate. For persistent issues, contact technical support.
Short-term storage: Preserve in deionized water or low-concentration standard solution (1 ppm).
Long-term storage: Rinse with deionized water, wipe membrane, dry thoroughly, and store in original packaging. Reactivate for over 2 hours before reuse.
