Relocatable Prefab Modular Building for Residential House
Prefabricated Construction and modular homes are sectional prefabricated buildings consisting of multiple sections called modules. This modular construction method differs from traditional stick-built approaches. The modules are six-sided boxes constructed in an exterior facility, then delivered to their intended site. Using a crane, the modules are set onto the building's foundation and joined together to create a single building. Modules can be placed side-by-side, end-to-end, or stacked, allowing wide variety of configurations and styles.
Modular buildings differ from mobile homes in two key ways. First, modular homes do not have axles or a frame and are transported via flat-bed trucks. Second, modular buildings must conform to all local building codes, while mobile homes follow federal codes. Some residential modular buildings built on steel frames (on-frame modular) meet local building codes and are considered modular homes rather than mobile homes.
