Automotive silicone leather is a high-performance, environmentally friendly synthetic leather that has emerged in the automotive interior field in recent years. It uses silicone polymer as its core raw material (replacing the plasticizers, solvents and other ingredients in traditional PVC and PU leather). With its excellent weather resistance, environmental friendliness and durability, it has gradually become the mainstream choice for interior decoration of high-end car seats, steering wheels, door panels, etc.

1. Extreme Weather Resistance: Unfazed by High and Low Temperatures and UV Light

Automotive interiors are exposed to high temperatures (interior temperatures can reach 60-80°C in summer), extreme cold (below -30°C in winter), and UV radiation. Silicone leather offers exceptional weather resistance advantages:

High and Low Temperature Resistance: It maintains elasticity in temperatures ranging from -60°C to 200°C, resists hardening and cracking at low temperatures, and resists softening and becoming sticky at high temperatures (traditional PVC leather releases harmful substances at high temperatures, while PU leather ages and discolors at high temperatures).

UV Aging Resistance: The chemical stability of the silicon-oxygen bond makes it resistant to fading, cracking, or loss of luster after prolonged exposure to sunlight, resulting in a service life of up to 8-10 years (traditional leather typically begins to noticeably age after 5-6 years).
 

2. Environmentally Friendly and Odor-Free: Meets Health Needs

This is one of silicone leather's core competitive advantages, perfectly addressing the odor and health risks associated with traditional leather:

No harmful substance release: Contains no phthalates (which may affect endocrine function), heavy metals, or formaldehyde, and VOC emissions are far below national standards (for example, GB/T 27630 requires a VOC level of ≤100μg/m³ in vehicles; high-quality silicone leather can achieve a VOC level of ≤20μg/m³).

No odor: No pungent odor from new car use (traditional PVC leather takes several months to dissipate). This makes it particularly suitable for those sensitive to odors, such as children and pregnant women.

 


 

Applications: 
 

1. Seat covers: Especially the driver and passenger seats (high-frequency contact, requiring scratch and stain resistance). Some models also use this for the rear seats.
2. Steering wheel covers: High-frequency contact, requiring non-slip, wear-resistant, and odor-free (to prevent hand contact with harmful substances).
