Fault Diagnosis and Simple Repair of Fan Clutch​
Faults in the fan clutch can affect the engine's heat dissipation and cause many problems. When the vehicle experiences issues such as excessive engine water temperature or abnormal fan operation, the fan clutch needs to be checked.​
One common fault is that the fan always runs at a high speed. The possible reason is that the bimetallic strip temperature sensor of the silicone oil fan clutch fails to accurately sense the temperature. The oil inlet hole remains 常开,causing silicone oil to continuously flow into the working chamber, and the fan can only rotate at a high speed. If such a situation is found, check whether the bimetallic strip is deformed or damaged, and replace the new temperature sensor if necessary.​
The fan not rotating is also a common fault. For the electromagnetic fan clutch, it may be that the electromagnetic coil is short - circuited or open - circuited, or there is a problem with the control circuit, resulting in insufficient electromagnetic force to engage the clutch. At this time, professional tools are needed to detect the resistance of the electromagnetic coil and check whether the wires are damaged or loose, and repair or replace the faulty components.​
Before repairing the fan clutch, be sure to take safety precautions to ensure that the vehicle is turned off and cooled. For simple faults, such as a decrease in fan power due to silicone oil leakage, try tightening the relevant sealing parts. If the fault is complex, it is recommended to go to a professional repair shop and let experienced technicians handle it to ensure the repair quality and driving safety.
