GYTS single-armored cables feature stranded loose tube filled with a water-resistant filling compound. A steel wire (sometimes sheathed with polyethylene for high fiber count cables) serves as the central metallic strength member. Tubes and fillers are stranded around this member to form a compact, circular cable core.
An Aluminum Polyethylene Laminate (APL) surrounds the cable core, which is filled with compound to prevent water ingress. The cable is completed with a PE sheath, making it ideal for long-haul communication and LANs, particularly in moisture-sensitive environments.
