GYTS (metal strengthening member, loose tube stranded and filled, steel-polyethylene bonded sheathed outdoor optical fiber cable for communication) features a structure where single-mode or multi-mode optical fibers are sheathed into inner filling made of high modulus plastic waterproof compound in loose tubes. The cable core center contains a metal reinforced core, with some cables featuring an additional polyethylene (PE) extrusion layer.
The loose tubes (and filling ropes) are twisted around the central reinforcing core to form a compact, circular cable core, with gaps filled with water blocking compounds. The cable is completed with a longitudinally wrapped steel-plastic composite tape and extruded polyethylene sheath.
