Thermal transfer films typically consist of four layers:

1. Base Layer: The foundation for ink and adhesive application, made from heat-resistant, pressure-resistant biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BOPET).
2. Release Layer: Features excellent adhesion with PET film at normal temperatures but releases under heat and pressure, with high abrasion and scratch resistance.
3. Ink Layer: Recreates detailed graphics with photo quality.
4. Adhesive Layer: Bonds the ink layer to receiving materials with chemical strength tailored to different plastics.
