ASTM A312 TP316L Austenitic Stainless Steel Welded Longitudinal Finned Tubes For Evaporators
ASTM A312 TP316L welded longitudinal finned tubes with stainless steel fins are designed for high-temperature and corrosive service applications. These tubes feature seamless, straight-seam welded construction with automatic welding process and no filler metal addition.
All pipes are heat-treated at 1900°F [1040°C] and are free of scale and contaminating exogenous iron particles. Surface finishing options include pickling, blasting, or bright annealing with optional passivating treatment.
Each tube undergoes rigorous testing including:
- Transverse/Longitudinal Tension Test
- Flattening Test
- Grain Size Analysis
- Flaring Test
- Flange Test
- Hardness Test
- Hydrostatic/Nondestructive Electric Test

For small diameter or thin wall tubes (less than 0.500 in. [12.7 mm] in outside diameter and less than 0.049 in. [1.20 mm] in wall thickness), a carbon maximum of 0.040% is required.

Longitudinal finned tubes are produced by resistance welding fins along the tube's length. The fins form a U-shaped channel where each leg creates a fin. Available in various materials including carbon/alloy steel, stainless steel (TP304, TP316L, TP321), and copper alloys (CuNi 70/30, CuNi 90/10).
